Principal's Newsletter

Dear Parents,

What a fantastic first week we have had at Hiddenite.  Thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm.  In order to keep you informed about what is happening at Hiddenite School, we will send home a monthly school calendar that will list all of our upcoming events, activities and important information.  We will also be posting the calendar and the newsletter on our school website.  In addition, your child’s teacher will be sending home newsletters and information throughout the year.  It is our belief that communication between the school and home is essential to a child’s learning experience.  Please check your child’s agenda daily for school communication.  The School Messenger phone calling system will be used weekly to send reminders about upcoming events.  I will also be using Remind 101 texting as well.  Please keep your phone number updated and sign up for Remind 101 texts by texting @e5cfd to 81010.  We have ordered car rider tags and will be sending them home as soon as they are available.  We ask that students names be written in dark marker to enable us to see them when we call their names.  This safety measure is important in order to allow us to monitor who the students are released to as well as keeping the line moving efficiently.   I wanted to remind parents that students who are car riders are able to enter the building at 7:25am and the tardy bell will ring at 8:00am.  We encourage all students to eat the free school breakfast each morning.

If your child is a bus rider please be patient as drivers try to get route times situated next week with adding students to the bus stops.  It is your responsibility to have students at their stop at least 10 min. prior to and wait 10 min. after their assigned time in case of any bus stop changes.  Any child with a transportation change must have a written note by parents sent it in order for students transportation to be changed.

In order to honor our grandparents, we invite you to bring a blanket and have lunch with your grandchildren on the lawn.  Our Grandparents’ Lunch on the Lawn will be done on two different days this year.  PreK – 2nd grades will be on Friday, September 15th and 3rd-5th grades will be on Monday, September 11th.  If you can only attend one of the two and you have grandchildren in both grade spans, you may pick just one date to attend.  Please RSVP so that the cafeteria will have enough food prepared.

The Hiddenite staff appreciates your dedication and partnership in helping our children have a great school experience.  This year our theme is Climbing to Success with the 7 Habits.   This school year brings opportunities for academic growth, as well as growth in all areas of   development. Although children must be knowledgeable when they graduate, they must also be healthy, engaged, responsible, and caring people. Students will be setting monthly WIGS (Wildly Important Goals), monitoring their process,  and sharing them with parents.  Please make sure that reading at night is a priority in your home.  It is imperative for students to read each night in order for their reading level to continue to grow.  As a school our two WIGS are as follows:

  • 100% of students will meet their reading growth goal by the end of the 1st quarter.
  • We will have 2 Peace Celebrations each month. ( Peace Celebration = 5 days without Office Referrals)

Together, we will watch each and every child grow throughout the year as we work together to meet our schoolwide, classroom and individual goals.

Sincerely,

Rene Stilwell, Principal
