  • Jimison and Hennessee Advance to Regional Spelling Bee Competition; Jimison Wins

    Brianna Jimison and Madison Hennessee advanced to the regional spelling bee competition at the Carolina Panthers stadium on Sunday, March 21. The competition went 20 rounds with Jimison winning the regional event by correctly spelling the word interrelate. Jimison will compete in the National Spelling Bee in June.

  • Jimison wins Spelling Bee; Hennessee is Runner-Up

    Twenty-two students representing Alexander County’s elementary, middle, and virtual schools were invited to compete for the top honor of Spelling Bee Champion. Brianna Jimison, Virtual Academy student, won the competition with Madison Hennessee, West Alexander Middle School student, placing second. Read more and see the slide show by clicking the title.

  • Second round of meals available during Spring Break for students 18 years old and younger

    Alexander County School Nutrition Department will be providing meals for all children 18 years old and younger during Spring Break. We are currently accepting sign-ups for the last five days of the break - April 7 through April 11. To receive meals you must complete the request form linked. This form is separate from the earlier form required for the first 7 days of meals during Spring Break. If you have questions, please call the School Nutrition office (828) 632-7001.

  • Meals available for children 18 years of age and under during Spring Break 2021

    The School Nutrition Department will provide meals at no cost for the students/children (18 and under) during the Easter/Spring break. For parent convenience, these meals will be available on March 31st from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for the first seven days of meals. Then on April 7th from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for the last five days of meals. For more information and the link to sign up click the headline.

  • Award of Honor nomination due March 12

    The Alexander County Board of Education is accepting Award of Honor nominations through March 12, 2021. The Award of Honor recognizes those individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Alexander County Schools. The award represents the highest honor that the Board of Education can bestow. To nominate an individual, please complete the nomination form posted on the school system’s website at www.alexander.k12.nc.us/aohnomination.

  • Kindergarten Registration Information

    Children who reach the age of 5 on or before August 31, 2021, are entitled to be screened for initial entry into the Alexander County School system for the 2021-2022 school year. Please attend the appropriate screening date for your child in the school district where you reside. For a list of dates click the heading.
