Associate Superintendent
Dr. Elizabeth Curry
In July of 2015, Dr. Elizabeth (Betsy) Curry was named Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction by the Alexander County Board of Education. Curry taught fourth through eighth grade students before being accepted into the Principal Fellows Program. She graduated in May of 2001 from UNC Charlotte, with a Master's Degree in School Administration. She served as an administrative intern and Assistant Principal in Iredell Statesville schools before being named principal of Stony Point Elementary school in Alexander County. She served nine years in the principalship; then, Dr. Curry served as a School Transformation Coach through the Department of Public Instruction for three years. In the coach position, Dr. Curry worked with principals from Pre-K through 12th grade and in an alternative learning program. She supported principals in curriculum and instructional leadership practices. During her time away from Alexander County Schools, she was awarded her Doctorate from Gardner-Webb University. In August of 2014, Dr. Curry was named Chief Academic Officer of Alexander County Schools before her current position as associate superintendent.
