West Alexander Middle School Media Center is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and caring environment for students while promoting reading, providing resources, incorporating technology and enhancing communication skills. The media center is a valuable resource for books, research, study and classroom activities and learning. Students and staff are encouraged to incorporate use of the media center as a resource in achieving their academic goals.
In addition to books and access to other reference materials, there is a computer lab to provide access for research, online sources, card catalog use and creating projects. All WAMS students are required to have an Internet permission slip signed by a parent/guardian before using computer labs in the school or in the media center.
Media Center Policies

Students are allowed to check out two books for a two week period.

Students are also allowed to check out reference materials and magazines. Students are expected to return all material in good condition and on time.

Media Center is open from 7:45 am until 3:30 pm on regular school days.

Students have access to the library media center before school, during lunch, and after school as well as during class time with permission from their teacher.

Students are required to pay for lost or damaged books or items.

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION
We collect Box Tops at WAMS. This is an easy way to earn money for our school media center. We receive ten cents for each valid box top.You can help by collecting boxtops, and by clipping box tops and turning the box tops in to the media center so our school can get credit for them. Also, you can help by visiting the website to sign up. Our school will get credit for that, and you can receive coupons.
