Attention Parents: Please read Alexander County School System’s Remote Learning Plan at the link above. This plan is revised and will replace what was formerly called the Continuity of Learning Plan. We have done our best to be consistent with recommendations and guidance from the State Board of Education and the Department of Public Instruction.
We understand that these are stressful times for families and that young children may need support and help. We also recognize that many parents are still working and this may fall to a childcare provider. Therefore, grades are not being given for elementary students at this time. Middle and high school students should be able to work more independently, some needing additional teacher support. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or school if this help is needed. The best method of communication is through email as many staff members are working remotely.
Engage your child as much as possible to prevent any loss of learning over this time period. We ask that you do what you can reasonably do without creating undue hardship and that you communicate with your child’s teacher should your child or you struggle. Lastly, it is clear that Alexander County School personnel have clearly stepped up to support the whole child and we will step up again when things get back to normal. I am very proud of our school community in this time of uncertainty.
