Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to my classroom.
My name is Lara Baker. I graduated from University of Florida with an Animal Biology Degree.
I transferred to Appalachian State University where I completed all classes for my comprehensive science teaching license.
I have been teaching for 20 years between North Carolina, Colorado, and Nebraska
I have 2 children who are grown. Rebecca who is 21 and is in nursing school and Katie who is 24 and is a mechanical engineer.
I spend much of my spare time training PTSD Service dogs, but I love to ride horses, sail, hike, camp, build things and refurbish antiques.
I am very excited to be joining the Alexander Central High School family and to get to know all of my students.
Needs for my classroom:
100 page 9x11 Spiral notebook with a plastic cover This should be .97 cents at walmart Look for the notebook that is a lot larger than a composition notebook. If you can't find one I have had some donated so let me know if you need one.
Cheap earbuds that will hook up to your computer (no lightning connectors) I will not allow you to use your cell phones for music
Tape, glue, or glue dots (your choice)
Colored pencils and regular pencils
2 colors of highlighters (your choice)
Be open to learning
Always remember: You have the right to learn, I have the right to teach.
I will not give up on you. Please do not give up on yourself.
I do not have access to canvas so all of your first 2 weeks of materials will be linked here. I have to stay at my old school until 8/31 so you will have a substitute in the classroom to help lead you but I will be zooming with you from my classroom so you will not miss any time at all.
