Welcome to my biography page!

My name is Mary Brown and I am the Alexander Early College Principal.

Work History: I have worked at Piedmont High in Union County, Mitchell Community College in Statesville and at Stony Point, Sugar Loaf, Hiddenite and Wittenburg elementary schools in Alexander County.

Family: I live with my husband and two dogs and three cats in Statesville. We have four children: Rose, a Chapel Hill grad, who teaches at Northview IB,  Ben, an engineering student at the University of Colorado in Denver, Isaac, a senior at NC STATE, and Lily, a junior at Appalachian -   yes, we are a house divided. (My brother got his master's at Duke, but we won't talk about that.)

Interests/Hobbies: I love to hike, bake/cook, walk, travel, read, shop and spend time with family. Ocracoke Island may be my favorite place in the world.

Vices: Diet Dr. Pepper and Almond Joys

Philosophy: Do all the good you can for all the people you can as much as you can. For me, this is serving people as an educator. I believe in service leadership. I'm here to help students and staff grow in knowledge and skills and understanding.
