Bed in a Bag Program

Bed in a Bag Program

The "Bed in a Bag" Program is a benevolence program for students who are considered homeless or McKinney Vento.  The goal is to help students have a consistent place to sleep.  Elementary and Middle School students receive a sleeping bag, and high school students receive an air mattress, sheets, and blankets.

Who it serves:

The program serves all students who are considered homeless in Alexander County Schools.  For reference, in 2018-2019 there were 79 students who were identified as homeless, and in 2019-2020 there were 49 students who identified as homeless.

How you can help:

The Social Workers are collecting pillows, blankets, twin size sheets, and toiletries to help benefit students in need.
