Who can take Driver’s Education:
➤ Any student that lives in Alexander County; Alexander Central High School, Alexander Early
College, Homeschool or Private School .
➤ You must be at least in the 9th grade and turn 14.5 years old (or older) during this school year.
➤ You must be pursuing a high school diploma or a GED.
ANY STUDENT THAT NEEDS THE DRIVERS EDUCATION CLASS FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR (SEPTEMBER 2023 THROUGH JUNE 2024) WILL HAVE SIGNUPS FROM SEPTEMBER 13TH TO SEPTEMBER 21ST. STUDENTS WILL BE ASSIGNED TO A CLASS BASED ON OLDEST TO YOUNGEST.

General Information:

Classes will be entirely online and be limited to 50 students per class. Classes will be assigned based on the students age (oldest to youngest).

There is a fee of $65.00 to enroll in the Driver’s Education class. This fee must be paid before the student will be enrolled in a class.

At the conclusion of each class, students and one parent will be required to come to Alexander Central High School to complete necessary paperwork and take a vision test. Time and date will be announced with class enrollment.
How to sign up for Driver’s Education:
Step 1
Students will need to fill out this Google Form. (This form will be emailed to Alexander County School students and a link will be posted on the Drivers Education Section of the Alexander County Schools website. Click this link or go to alexander.k12.nc.us, under departments click Driver Education).
Step 2
Parents will need to go on to K12 Payment Center to pay the $65.00 fee for the Driver’s Education class (click this link or go to alexander.k12.nc.us, the link to the k12 payment center is under Quick Links). If you have never set up a K12 payment, then you will need to go in as a guest and create an account. Payment must be made before students will be enrolled in a class. This fee is non refundable. Payments are only accepted online through this system. No cash or checks. A fee waiver is available for cases of hardship.
AEC, Private/Home School - If you attend one of these schools, follow these instructions
- Log into the k12 payment center as a guest. (Do not use your account or create a new one.)
- You will find the Drivers Education fee under Alexander Central High School.
Step 3
Students will receive an email 1-2 weeks prior to the class starting with the information they need for class.
Dates:
If the student is not enrolled in the first class, they will be assigned a later class. Classes will be offered during the following months. Specific dates are subject to change.
October 2 - 13 March 4 - 15 July TBD based on need
December 4 - 15 May 13 -24
February 5 -16 June 17 - 21
