Student Transfers
Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year will be available April 1 and accepted though June 15, 2024 Applications can be mailed to you by contacting Saralyn Wilson, 828-632-7001, ext. 241, or sawilson@alexander.k12.nc.us.
Request for In-County Transfer/Hardships
- An application must be completed for each child requesting reassignment.
- Proof of residence of domicile must be provided with application (i.e. Property Tax Statement, Utility Bill, Lease Agreement)
- A statement explaining the reason for the transfer request must be written within the application.
- Application and all additional documentation should be mailed or delivered to the School Principal in your district of residence. Applications without Principal's signature will not be considered.
- To be considered for reassignment, the student must be in good standing with their current school, demonstrating good behavior, academic achievement, and attendance. Rising Kindergarten students should be screened and registered in their home district.
- If approved, transportation to and from requested school will be the responsibility of the parent of guardian.
Request for Admission into Alexander County Schools from Another County
- An application must be completed for each child requesting admission. A statement explaining the reason for the out-of-county request must be written within this application.
- A Release Form from the releasing school district must be attached.
- Applications and all additional documentation should be mailed to Dr. Betsy Curry, Associate Superintendent, Alexander County Schools, 700 Liledoun Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
- To be considered for admission, the student must be in good standing with their current school, demonstrating good behavior, academic achievement, and attendance. Rising Kindergarten students should be screened and registered in the county of residence.
- The school system is not obligated to provide transportation for transfer students. If approved, transportation to and from requested school will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
- Out-of-county students are ineligible for athletic participation for a period of 365 days from the day of enrollment at the school of transfer.
Parents will be notified of the Superintendent's decision by June 30, 2024
