What is an Internship?

An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. An internship gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills. It offers the employer the opportunity to bring new ideas and energy into the workplace, develop talent and potentially build a pipeline for future full-time employees.

Intern

This is Josh Story's second year as an intern with the City of Taylorsville. Josh is pictured weed eating the city cemetery, which he says takes a couple days to keep it spick and span. Josh is hoping to continue working with the city after he graduates this year.

Senior Wesley Cline loves to be outside and has many opportunities for this in his internship with Ever Green Landscaping and Grading. As an intern, Wesley gets to learn the ins and outs of both residential and commercial work. On the day of his intern visit, Wesley and his team were working on grading and leveling the land around a residential property. The experience he is gaining in his internship will be a great foundation for him to start his own business.

Ethan Stocks is a current intern at Taylorsville Savings Bank. He is serving as their “go-fer” and attends to any kind of needs they may have. This is Ethan’s first job and he is doing a great job. Sherri Russell says, “Ethan has never met a stranger.”
