Career Development Plans
Careers for All is the mission for Alexander County Schools CTE Department. We value the impact of students exploring career options early and often throughout their education. Our goal is for all students to develop Career Development Plans beginning in Middle School using Xello.
Xello is an engaging online program that students will start using in the 6th grade which will help them build the skills, knowledge and plans to be future ready. The program uses an investigative, discovery-based learning process. Students better understand themselves, their future career options, and the 21st century skills they’ll need to succeed.
A Career Development Plan (CDP) provides a framework for students to focus and refine their career goals. The CDP starts in middle school and will evolve with students as they progress through middle school and high school. Students will revisit and revise their Career Development Plan yearly to maximize its efficacy. A CDP is beneficial for students as it helps them have an intentional plan and allows them to make informed decisions about their future.
At the time of graduation from Alexander County Schools, it is our goal that every student is:
-
Enrolled- in a college, university, community college, technical school, or apprenticeship, or
-
Employed- in the workforce, or
- Enlisted- in a branch of the military.
