  • Alexander Soil and Water Conservation Recognition

    The Alexander Soil & Water Conservation District hosts six environmental contests for local schools every year. In order to encourage stewardship and instill good land ethic in today’s youth, each SWCD contest season has an environmental education component addressing a statewide theme. This year’s theme was: “Soil & Water: Yours for Life”. Our county winners for each contest were: 5th Grade Poster – Noah Jamison, Stony Point Elementary 6th Grade Essay – Steven Chapman, East Alexander Middle 6th Grade Slide Show – Grayson Presnell, East Alexander Middle 7th Grade Speech – Maya Adams, West Alexander Middle 8th Grade Speech – Maia Southers, East Alexander Middle 9th Grade Computer Poster – Logan Ellis, ACHS Congratulations to all of these winners and to everyone that participated! We hope that these environmental contests will spark an interest in natural resource conservation in these students. Click on the pictures to see more.

  • Brown and Bishop are Selected to Attend Governor's School

    Alexander County School Board members and administration recognized two Alexander Central High School students, Kylie M. Brown and Mark Avery Bishop, as nominees for North Carolina Governor’s School. Kylie was selected to attend the 2017 session of NC Governor’s School East in the area of Natural Science. She will be on the campus of Meredith College. Kylie is the daughter of Stephen and Ginger Brown of the Bethlehem Community. Avery Bishop was selected to attend the 2017 session of NC Governor’s School West in the area of Natural Science. He will be on the campus of Salem College. Avery is the son of Mark and Kim Bishop of the Bethlehem Community. Read this story and more in School Matters.

  • School Nutrition Has Easy Access Menus and Nutrition Information

    The Alexander County School Nutrition Department has updated our school nutrition website to provide easier access to menus and nutrition information. Parents will also be pleased that the user-friendly monthly calendar format is back! We still have a mobile nutritional software mobile application. The previous app has been replaced with School Nutrition and Fitness. You will need to install a new app to have access on your phone. For more information, please go to the Alexander County Schools' website ( and click on the lunch bag icon at the top of the page.

Emergency Alert

  • When possible, school safety alerts will be posted on the school's website under the Emergency Alert Section. 
    If your child's school has an alert, you can go to the School Safety Department page on the district website for information regarding those codes.
